1. It is a sign of strength to be able to share your worries with others. 2. Being able to share concerns makes the other person feel trusted and affirmed. 3. It also gives the other person permission to interact with you on a different level. 4. People will admire your honesty in saying to them that you have a problem. 5. Your disclosure can often take a weight off of your mind. 6. People can be surprisingly helpful. They may have shared a similar situation and be able to offer some personal tips. 7. Talking helps you to get things into perspective. 8. Discussion can encourage you to think more creatively about how to address a situation. 9. Talking can provoke action. 10. It can be more helpful to talk over a problem with someone you dont know as the person will be more objective. Sometimes friends are too eager to say what they think you want to hear. They may be afraid of hurting your feelings. It can sometimes cause you embarrassment later when you talk to a close friend and later feel you may have said too much or are concerned about your confidence being broken. It can be beneficial to engage the help of a lifecoach to talk over how your life is and explore together what it is that you need to change or to take action over in order to decrease your stress levels and become happy. |
