Motivational Speaker Says Forget Retirement: Take A Midlife Sabbatical!

Author: Dr. Gary S. Goodman

Countless financial planners and the companies they represent, all of whom are trying to hustle investments, insurance, and other products, are scaring Baby Boomers with the idea that many wont be able to afford to retire, at 60, 65, 70, or even 75.

Theyll have to keep working, no matter what, say these fear mongers.

What if its true, that ones under-funded 401k and IRA accounts wont have enough bucks in them?

What can you do?

Break out the money and enjoy it now!

Sure, youll be paying some penalties, but youll have your hands on that cash, and with it, you may not retire, but you can give yourself a well deserved sabbatical.

Whats that?

A sabbatical is usually reserved for tenured college professors and for top executives. In a word or two, its time off from the grind.

For teachers, it is a leave taken in the seventh or eighth continuous year of service, during which added study, research, or travel might be undertaken.

The idea is to charge up your dwindling stores of energy and motivation for the years yet to come, again, for more years of service.

If financial planners are correct, that you wont be able to retire, why make that such a big part of your plans?

Take some well deserved time off NOW, recharge those batteries, and perhaps youll come back with a better attitude, with new vigor, and actually WANTING to work!
