CoCaLo is a relative newcomer to the crib bedding industry, founded in 1998. CoCaLo manufacturers crib bedding under the Kimberly Grant, Baby Martex, and OshKosh Baby labels. First introduced to consumers in late 2004 under the Kimberly Grant label, the Dance Laugh Sing collection is one of the unique bedding sets available. Generally retailing for between $250 and $280, the four-piece crib set seems fairly priced given the quality of fabrics and workmanship.

Dance Laugh Sing comes as a four-piece crib set with a quilt, bumper, crib skirt, and fitted sheet. The collection is made from a 65/35 poly/cotton blend, with the exception of the fitted sheet, which is 100% cotton. The fitted sheet is available for purchase separately. As with most crib bedding collections, a number of accessories are available, that match the Dance Laugh Sing crib set. As with all Kimberly Grant crib bedding, an interesting collection of classic Kimberly Grant canvas wall art is available. Notably missing, however, is a hamper, which most crib bedding manufacturers have available.

I was somewhat disappointed to see that the pink gingham fabric used throughout Dance Laugh Sing is a printed fabric, where the pattern is imprinted onto a solid colored fabric instead of woven using differently colored threads. Woven fabrics are of a higher quality than printed fabrics, in terms of both beauty and durability. I did note that the fabric used is of a high quality, high thread count material. The quilt also used a very interesting and textured white pique fabric, sherpa cording, and a pink and green striped fabric. The quilt features the long-legged cow mascot embroidered on the top quarter of the quilt in an original design compared to most other crib beddings sets I've seen. The embroidered designs are very well rendered. The backing of the quilt is a soft white sherpa.

The bumper is 10" tall with ties on both the top and bottom with the same white pique and embroidered accents used on the inside of the bumper as are used on the quilt. The outside of the bumper is comprised entirely of the printed pink gingham. A slight drawback of the bumper is the fact that it comes as one continuous piece, as opposed to being broken up into two, three, or even four pieces. The crib skirt features a 14" drop with the embroidered daisy trim to complete the look of the collection. The fitted sheet has a pink checked pattern with flowers, which, because it is printed not woven, could possibly fade due to normal wear and tear. I would recommend buying several solid colored fitted sheets {white, pink, or green}, which are readily available at most bedding retailers, to save the matching sheet for showing off. Fortunately, all of the crib bedding pieces are machine washable.

Unfortunately for Canadian consumers purchasing from a United States online retailer, the Sweet Vanilla bedding collection is manufactured in China. Customers in Canada would be required to pay import duties of as much as 18% of the stated prices.
