Napa Valley Wine Tours

Author: Thomas Morva

California attracts millions of visitors each year. Disneyland is the leading attraction followed by Napa Valley. Napa Valley attracts about five million visitors each year. The main attraction is visits to some of the world famous wineries, a glimpse of the wine making process and a chance to taste wines.

Even though Napa Valley is abundant with scenic beauties, it is the wine industry and the production of high quality wines that makes this valley a top tourist destination. Organized wine tours showcase some of the best wineries in the world. The tour takes visitors through a 30-mile valley, starting in Napa, passing through Yountville, Oakville, St.Helena and Calistoga.

Most of the tours are daily, starting in the morning and ending before 6:00 pm. The main features of the tour include visits to pre-determined wineries (three to four). Whether you are a novice or a connoisseur of wine, you will see wine making from start to finish with a wine tasting experience, and the opportunity to buy wine at discounted prices. Also, the wine tour provides an opportunity to enjoy the panoramic views of the valley.

Most wine tour operators start in San Francisco. The services provided by top operators depend on the visitors. Some operators have exclusive arrangements with the oldest family owned wineries, and other operators take guests on several tours. Groups travel in passenger buses and sedans and limos are standard transportation for luxurious tours. The fees range from $60 to $200, excluding other fees such as drivers gratuity and surcharges on fuel. One can have packed lunches or lunches at popular restaurants and wineries.

The Napa Valley wine train runs daily trips in the county and stops at two wineries. The train trip includes a lunch and wine. The trip usually takes three hours and exhibits the pride of Napa Valley.
